Drentse Weelde is located 20 km below Assen, near the Frisian border in the town of Hoogersmilde. The eco-resort borders directly on the beautiful National Park Drents-Friese Wold. HUB Resorts Drentse Weelde is currently undergoing a complete renovation. Although the park is still in full development, the amenities at the park are currently limited. Fortunately, there is plenty of shopping and recreational opportunities in the immediate vicinity.

Drenthe is a recreational hotspot

Here you celebrate vacations with breathtakingly beautiful nature all around you. In addition to National Park Drents-Friese Wold is also National Park Dwingelerveld very close by and so you have it all to choose from. Which path do you stroll down, where do you go cycling or is it so hot that you opt for an afternoon swim? Even climbing, horseback riding and a tour by covered wagon are among the possibilities. When it comes to recreation, you couldn't do better.

The place for a wonderful bike ride

Did you know that Drenthe is the cycling province of the Netherlands? We'll give you a hint: cycle in 1.5 hours from Drentse Weelde to Orvelte, one of the most beautiful villages in the entire country! Here you will experience the real authentic Drenthe character. The route there lets you experience Drenthe at its best. The Dwingelderveld route through Dwingelderveld National Park is also breathtaking. You will discover the beauty of the largest contiguous wet heathland area in Western Europe. Besides numerous cycling routes, there are also fantastic mountain bike trails for both beginning and advanced mountain bikers.

Fun to do in Drenthe

Nearby there are several amusement parks. Super fun for the whole family. And don't forget to visit the Rijk der Kabouters in Exloo, the treetops in Drouwen and Joytime in Grolloo. Or go to Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen. Discover new worlds, come face to face with wild animals and race in the new attraction Tweestryd! Fancy an afternoon of shopping? From Drentse Weelde you can drive to Assen in 20 minutes and Groningen can be reached in 40 minutes.

Back in the past with the dolmens

When you think of Drenthe, you think of dolmens. And that's not surprising, because there are no less than 52 of them! Hunebeds are beautiful burial chambers. They were built about 5,000 years ago. It is almost impossible to imagine how they were able to move the huge boulders. In the Hunebedcentrum Borger you can discover prehistory and admire the largest hunebed in the Netherlands!
